A Celebration of Women and Non-Binary Folk in Live Music:

A PHOTOGRAPHIC SERIES CELEBRATING THE WOMEN AND NON-BINARY FOLK PUSHING THE LIVE MUSIC INDUSTRY TO ITS FULLEST POTENTIAL. PLEASE DONATE WHERE YOU CAN.

Girls Against is super excited to bring you our photographic series, celebrating the amazing work of 13 women & non-binary folk who are pushing the music industry to its fullest potential.

The series aims to not only celebrate the work that these amazing people are doing, but provide a person discussion about some of the challenges facing women & non-binary folk working in these areas of the live music scene. We all know that behind the scenes of live music has always been viewed as a cis-male dominated profession, we want to break this stigma and celebrate the fierce community of women & non-binary folk who occupy these spaces.

You can see a condensed informal chat with each of our spotlights on our instagram (instagram.com/girlsagainst), with the full in-depth conversations found below. These are paired with a self portrait in a place where most of their work has been taking place during the pandemic - this could be a bedroom, or study space etc.

We really want to delve into how identity has influenced working in the field, you can read about experiences of the cis-male dominated industry, and whether this has affected their work, but also the impact of COVID-19 and whether this is gendered. Ultimately, we just want to give a space to marginalised groups in the music industry to share their stories and gain recognition and appreciation for the hard work they have contributed to live music.

Each individual has provided a link for donations. If you are able, please take a minute of your day to donate and support some of the incredible women and non-binary folk who are inspiring change for the live music industry.
